The engineering and technology group SENER has appointed José Ignacio Morales – who to this point had been Corporate Chief Financial Officer – as its new Director of Strategy & Corporate Development. This is a new role that has been created in response to the SENER Group’s organic growth and the resulting need to reinforce its structure. At present, the group integrates companies in the fields of Engineering and Construction, Aeronautics, and Energy and Environment, with a turnover exceeding 1.3 billion euros and 5,700 professionals distributed across its offices on four continents.
In his new role, José Ignacio Morales will work together with the Management Committee of the SENER Group, of which he forms part, to provide SENER with greater overall cohesion and coordination in strategic matters such as corporate development, organic growth, acquisitions, investments and R&D. In similar fashion, he will also be responsible for implementing internal policies, including process integrations and the analysis of opportunities and synergies at the group’s core.
José Ignacio Morales joined SENER in December 2005 as Chief Financial Officer and is a member of the Board of Directors in various companies externally and within the group, including ITP, Torresol Energy and Zabalgarbi.
Previously he had worked as a Senior Financial Analyst at BBVA, in the Investment Banking Division, where he led the Industrial and Consumer Equity Research Team and was involved in several IPOs. Prior to that, he held different financial positions within F. Hoffmann-La Roche and PricewaterhouseCoopers in Spain, Switzerland and the United States.
José Ignacio Morales completed his Doctorate in Business Administration at Universidad Complutense in Madrid, receiving the cum laude distinction by unanimous decision for his thesis on renewable energy. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where he received special recognition for his achievements. He also obtained an MBA from the IESE Business School (Universidad de Navarra). He is currently a Financial Advisor and Board Member at a number of organizations, including the Spanish Institute of Financial Analysts (IEAF) and the Expert Certification in Company Assessment (CEVE). He also teaches various finance classes at some of Europe’s most renowned business schools.
